He looked like the best player in football during his playoff run. His MVP Super Bowl performance sealed the deal. Yesterday the Ravens and the Flacco came to a deal that makes Joe Flacco's long-term deal the richest in NFL history. He will be making $100 thousand a year more than Drew Brees.
Total deal? $120.6 MILLION over 6 years.
Is he worth it? Probably not. But current worth is based on recent performance and your contract coming due at just the right time.
Flacco's timing could not have been more perfect.

The Gentle Giant
This is me and my nephew Carter after the game last night. In my shoes I'm 5 foot 9 inches tall.
Carter's over a foot taller. I love this shot so I'm sharing it. Click on it for a better look.

Soccer On Ice
The Wild actually scored four goals last night in a winning effort. It's the first ime this season that they've managed a total that high.
Last game they took their typical "soccer game approach' and won 2-1 in OT. Lots of back and forth action with nothing really happening the entire game and very little scoring.
To paraphrase Shakespeare again (this time Macbeth:) "It is a game played and watched by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
Shakespeare used the word idiot(s) so don't blame me.

Mauer, Morneau, Willingham
The "Big Three" for Minnesota had great games yesterday as the Twins beat Baltimore 7-1 in spring training.
Liam Hendriks is looking VERY good. Yesterday he pitched three shutout innings. He's always had good stuff even during that massive losing streak. This may be the year he finally turns the corner.

Basketball
I had the privilege of watching my nephew Carter's basketball game last night in Mankato. He and his team dominated most of the way and they sort of coasted home for a win. It was their last regular season game of the year with playoffs starting next week.
Carter had a really nice easy dunk in the first half and a lot of sweet Ricky Rubie-esque passes and assists throughout the game. I was surprised to find out that you are allowed to dunk the ball during warmups in high school now. You just can't do it "with authority." Before the second half started he did one of the smoothest 360 slams I've ever seen in warmups. He's got a soft touch on his turn-around jump shot everywhere in the paint, and he's actually pretty good at shooting threes as well, though his coach won't let him do that in games. He's also a very, very good dribbler. He looked more like a guard than a center during warmups.
At 6 foot 10, he should do really well in college. I'm just hoping the coaching he'll get in college will allow him to reach his full potential.
I don't know what his totals were last night but it's safe to say he was in the teens for rebounds and around 20 points. I sure was glad I finally got to see him play varsity ball and I'm really hoping I'll get to see him play on T.V. in the state tournaments. There are a lot of good teams in his area so he might not make it that far.

Mauer, Wife Expecting TWINS
Mauer's married????
Ben Revere was GREAT in yesterday's Twins game. He had two hits, two runs scored and a stolen base. Too bad he's playing for the Phillies now.
Still, the Twins clubbed the Phillies yesterday like unsuspecting baby seals. The final was 12-5.
Aaron Hicks, Revere's most likely long term replacement, had a single, a double, and a RBI, and a run scored yesterday for the Twins. Maybe everything will work out.
