John Glenn

The first American in space died this week, but John Glenn had a unique sports connection. Glenn was a fighter pilot in the Korean War, and he was in the same fighter squadron as Ted Williams, who was also a fighter pilot. About half of their missions were flown together. Both said the other was the best they had ever flown with.

For those of you too young to remember, Williams was the last player to bat .400 in a season.
