Bobby Bonilla hasn't played a baseball game for 15 years, yet the Mets are still paying him money on his last contract. Every July 1st they send him a check for $1.2 million. Every year for the last 15 years he get's a million dollars richer. The best part? He's going to get one of those checks EVERY year until July 1st 2035.
The reason?
His last contract gave him deferred money over a lot more time.
The guy will be on the Mets payroll nearly 30 years after playing the game getting a million a year.
He likes it. The Mets like it.
I like it too.
Cool.
