Connections

Former Twins' second baseman, Luis Castillo (2006-2007) is on the Hall of Fame ballot this year.

When the Twins fell out of contention in 2007 we traded him for Drew Butera, who was on the Twins for four seasons.

We traded Drew for Miguel Sulbaran who never made it to the majors, but we traded Miguel for Eduardo Nunez, who has been a Twins bench player for four seasons.

So Castillo is directly responsible for Butera and Nunez both being on the Twins eight years after we traded him. Few players give you eight good years of major league service after you trade them. But the Twins have gotten a lot of milage out of that one trade.

Who knows? Maybe the Twins will get a roster player for Nunez if we trade him as well. Castillo was not only a great second baseman, he was the gift that kept on giving.
