Though none of the damage is considered severe, it will take awhile to heal after his surgery today. Their performance this year will determine how the Vikings view Peterson when he returns. His new contract demands a lot if the Vikings choose to keep him. For those wondering, Peterson is still over 6,000 yards away from Emmit Smith's all-time career record. No one expects him to play long enough to break it. Even Peterson was talking about its time to think about winding down his career, and that was before the season started.
