Okay, it was just Northwestern, but it was at Northwestern, and no matter how bad they are this year, at least the Gophers didn't have a major breakdown after last week's loss.

Best record in decades.

Legendary Vikings place kicker AND inventor of the Nerf Football, Fred Cox has passed away.

He was 80.

After trying to watch that first half yesterday, and then turning the game off in absolute disgust, I was surprised as anybody when I checked the results at 3:30.

Horrible first half. Worst of the season.

First NFL comeback in 100 games (being down by at least 20 to 0) to actually win.

Wow. Cousins unleashed is an incredible thing to watch. Even watching the 12 minute summary of the game on Youtube after it was all over was difficult to watch. That last defensive series near the goal line? Whoa!

But they did it.

Unbelievable.

8-3 record.

Undefeated Gophers Number 8 in Country!

Tell me the last time they were in the top 10 this late in the season.

A win put them at 6-4 on the season last night.

Not great, but at least above .500.

Vikings!!

I enjoyed the first quarter. Hated the second. And went to bed early.

The Vikings played until the end, however, and ended up beating Dallas on the road.

7-3 is a very good record this late in the season.

9-0 for the first time since 1905! That's a 114 years.

The first time they've beaten a top 5 team at home since 1977!

A TWO game lead in the the western conference of the Big Ten with three games to play before the championship game!

The Gophers? The GOPHERS!!!!!

Wolves!!

Yes, they beat the Golden State Warriors in overtime last night, but that Warrior team is not currently one of the best teams in the league.

The Wolves are just 5-3 themselves after performing badly the last week.

Still 5-3 is a winning record.

You'd have to be living under a rock not to know the Gopher football team is still undefeated this year. That 8-0 record, this far into the Big 10 season hasn't occurred since the Kennedy administration (or some such number like that).

The point is, the game against number 4 Penn State MEANS something. And it's a HOME game. At 11 a.m. central today on ABC. I'm going to be watching. And I haven't cared about the Gopher football team since the Kennedy administration...

...or some such number.

Their best player suspended, the Wolves still had 3 players with 20 or more points!

4-1 on the season, they still are tied for the Western Conference lead!

Maybe this IS a different team.

Not in any way confident, but at least hopeful.
