The Twins have decided FOR Joe Mauer that he's is no longer going to be their often times beat-up catcher. Josmil Pinto, for the time being, will be the Twins new catcher.
With Morneau gone this was the BEST option for the Twins. Mauer can now play, hopefully injury free, for several more seasons rather than spending 30-50 games a year on the disabled list. It's not what Mauer wanted, but when you make THAT MUCH money, it's up to the TEAM how you should be used.
It's the right call, and I'm looking forward to Pinto at the catching position. Last year, he showed flashes of brilliance. Maybe he'll be just what we needed.
Two positions filled. Seven to go.
And a full starting pitcher rotation.
I can smell World Series from here.
