Hughes Outduels Verlander

Phil Hughes got his fourth straight win as the Twins beat Justin Verlander for the first time in  over four seasons last night. It was Hughe's third straight game without issuing a single walk.

Perkins pitched a scary ninth, made even scarier by ever-graceless Jason Kubel's outfield play, but in the long run the lack of outfield gazelles didn't hurt the Twins in the win column.

The Twin's Mr. Clutch, Kurt Susuki, came through yet again last night with a two-run single in the seventh. That's all the Twins got. That's all they needed.
