The Twins have now won 6 straight Phil Hughes starts. Perkins messed up one of those for Phil but the Twins still won.

Last night Perkins was perfect in the ninth, earning his 14th save.

The Twins were actually outhit in the game by the punchless San Diego Padres, but both Parmalee and Plouffe delivered when needed.

What's cool is that Hughes didn't walk anyone at all, again. That's five straight starts (147 batters) without a walk. Even the very best starters give up a walk or two a game. So he's really on a roll.

Better? Detroit just got swept in their series with Cleveland. The Twins find themselves alone in second place, just five games out of first, having won 7 of their last 10.
