Duds

The tournament series that determines the National Championship of college football laid a couple of eggs yesterday.

One of the reasons I like the BCS games so much in the past was that you got to see the upsets that mattered throughout the season and that left you with two strong teams at the end.

NOW college football is forcing a FOUR team playoff, and as was demonstrated quite soundly yesterday, teams three and four quite simply didn't deserve to be there. Clemson and Alabama were there for a reason. They are by far the best college football teams in the country.

Michigan State and Oklahoma are also-rans that never should have been allowed to run with the big boys in the first place. They sure didn't put up much of a fight in those games yesterday. And those games, as a result, were not worth watching.

There's only one football game in college left that matters this season. They should have skipped to that game in the first place. All the other games this week are just unsatisfying filler.

Oh, and Happy New Year!
