Saban Gets Fourth National Title in Last Seven Years

Bear Bryant never had to  win a final game at the end of the season. He let the writers vote him a title at the end of the year. That's how it worked back then. And he was awarded 6 of them. It was more of an MVP vote.

Nick Saban does it the hard way. He has to actually beat another great team on the field after having had a great season to even get to that championship game. Last night, he did something a little different. Clemson was matching them score for score. They were every bit as good as Alabama. He needed to do something different.

With the score tied late, he attempted an onside kick just to KEEP Clemson from having it. It worked. And they went on to win 45-40.

And he EARNED his fourth title in 7 years by doing that. The Alabama legacies of both Bryant and Saban are now cemented in time. For their eras none have been greater.

Did I mention it was a great game?
