Perfect

The Twins lost last night. Young up and comer P.J. Walters left before he had any outs because of shoulder pain and the night went downhill from there. Jim Thome proved he could still hit including a 466 foot blast. He has 5 of the six longest homeruns in Target field history. The Twins made a valiant comeback but still lost 9-8.

But I don't want to talk about that game. I want to talk about perhaps the single greatest pitched game of all-time and it happened last night. Yes, Matt Cain threw a perfect game last night for the Giants. And he did it while striking out 14 Astros. He was solid throughout and his defense made a couple of super plays. He dominated the Astros in such a way that even older sports writers were in awe.

That's the second perfect game THIS SEASON and there have only been 22 in history. That's also the fifth no-hitter already this year. I wish I could have seen that game live. The highlights were great but this was a game that the 42,000 at the ballpark will remember forever.

I LOVE baseball even when the Twins get drubbed. Baseball goes beyond the Twins. That sense of history and historical significance just isn't in any other sport. It's almost magical.
