Goodell Looks Like An Idiot Again

Roger Goodell says that getting rid of the point after touchdown would be a good thing. It really is automatic. Only five were missed all year out of over 1,200 attempts.

I agree with him there. In fact I've said as much several times in my blog.

So why is he an idiot?

He wants the touchdown to worth SEVEN points and if you MISS the two point conversion, it would go back down to 6.

That's a very convoluted and stupid football mind.

The TD should always be worth 6. Always. The two point conversions will take care of themselves.

IF you want more excitement, allow the team to have a CHOICE of starting positions on the conversion plays. Make it worth ONE from where the normal position is. And two from the five.

EVERY conversion try will then have major interest. And getting the two will mean something special.

Taking points OFF the board?

Stupid.

  1. Um, why not back it up? Perhaps to make it a 40-45 yard attempt. Then it is not automatic.

I hate the 2-point conversion. Never liked it.

Taking away points is stupid. How do these people get in charge of these things? Sounds like 4th of 5th graders coming up with rules.

  2. I'd prefer the two point conversion to a one point "bonus" field goal. Does football even need "extra" points?

Goodell is going to have an uphill struggle on this.
