Tanaka Signs For 7 Years, $155 Million Dollars

I understand the system now. Everybody is allowed to negotiate with international free-agents.

The Yankees will still offer the most money.

The Yankees will get who they want as if no other team is involved.

Good deal for Tanaka, though. At $22 million plus a year, he's the richest 25 year-old ever in the world of sports, and he's never pitched an inning of major league ball.

I'm still insanely interested in seeing just how good he is going to be.

And it looks like the new big-contract deals in baseball are SEVEN years now. At least that's something I agree with.

Much has been learned from the A-Rod deals.
