Joe Mauer_ The Golden Child

I hate to admit it, But Joe Mauer is starting to earn my respect again. Last night, with two outs and two on in the top of the ninth with the Twins trailing. Mauer hit a homerun to put the Twins up 6-4.

That means the Twins have won 7 of their last nine and they've also got 9 solid starting performances in a row as Devries only gave up 4 hits and two runs in his seven innings of work.

I've also noticed that Morneau's batting average has went up over 30 points in the last month or so. The Twins are suddenly a hitting ball club again.

The Twins go for the sweep today. Boston hasn't been very good this year, so it's not like the Twins are beating one of the league's powerhouses. But beating the bad teams is the first step in proving you aren't so bad yourself. We're now only THREE games behind third place Cleveland.

Another highlight? Ben Revere had three more singles, extended his hitting streak to 18 games and he's now batting .323 for the season.

One game at a time.
