I think that this proves my point about soccer better than anything I've ever said.
The men's U.S. team wasn't even good enough to MAKE the Olympics this year. Mexico won the GOLD MEDAL as the best team in the world just last week.
This is so common in soccer that it's not even funny anymore. If the best team and a team that is average can play a game where just one score is the difference, it just shows that ALL the teams are about the same.
That's soccer. Parity is the rule and superstars don't make a difference. One lucky bounce and BOOM, the best suddenly becomes an also-ran.
Defenses in soccer are smothering. Shots on goal are rare and even the best players shoot wide or high way more often than the "highlight goal" you see on Sports Center.
with all that being said....
USA! USA! USA!
It's the first time in seventy five years that the US has beat Mexico south of the border.
