Number 21 Stanford BEAT number TWO USC last night and it was the prime time game. USC's title hopes were most likely flushed away and it's only mid September.
The reason THIS game mattered is because the entire season is still a sudden-death playoff. No other sport has early season games that matter like this. And people still want that stupid 4-game playoff at the end which will spoil ALL that was great about last night.
USC was battling for the National Championship LAST NIGHT and they lost. Every undefeated team will have that same pressure, EVERY SINGLE game (until they lose) for the rest of the season. I can't tell you ONE player's name from USC last night, but I can tell you that was a great game.
Every major game matters the entire season. WHY would anyone want a play-off that wrecks that?
