I Feel a Draft

The Twins selected shortstop Nick Gordon as their first round pick in the draft. Most think that was a great choice and it was predicted. The next five picks were a bit odd. All of them are college relief pitchers with great arms. The Twins will try to convert some of them to starters just like when they did the same thing in 2012.

None of those 2012 picks have developed into anything yet, in fact, most have developed arm trouble. But the Twins will keep trying.

I'm still rooting for the day when we have nothing but relievers and no starters. But baseball is slow in reacting to new ideas, and Gardy is positively glacial in that respect.

Maybe the Astros will give the idea a try some day. Teams with nothing to lose have less reasons to maintain the status quo.

That's where revolutions begin.

Just ask Billy Beane.
