Netherlands "Stuns" Mexico in World Cup

I find the world's fascination with soccer more and more amusing. Even McDonald's latest promotion is all about the World Cup.

In a "sport" where 85% the games end with a 2-1 or 1-0 score, there is NO stunning loss. All the teams in the World Cup are capable of beating all the other teams OR THEY WOULDN'T BE THERE.

Given that basic information, I don't understand the appeal of the sport. Sure, some players might look better out there, but even the best players shooting percentage is only about 10%. (20 shots a game, only about 2 go in, and most miss by a mile) That would be like an average baseball player batting .100 and striking out most of the time. Could you imagine how awful baseball would be if everybody batted .100?

That would be soccer.

The guys that SCORE the most are those that SHOOT the most; their percentage isn't that much greater than an average player's shooting percentage.

I have no doubt that these guys are incredible athletes, but it seems like such a wasted skill when it doesn't benefit anybody.

The score of the Mexico/Netherlands "upset"?

2-1.

The prosecution rests your honor.
