Perspective

The Twins may have one of the worst records in baseball (only Seattle, the Cubs, and San Diego are worse) but for a last place team we aren't doing that badly in our own division.

We are just 8 games out of first. Baltimore is 6 games back in SECOND place in their division. Toronto is playing .500 ball and they are 8 1/2 games back in last place behind the Yankees.

Seattle is already 16 games back and completely dead. The Cubs and Padres are in similar straits. Both at least 14 games back in last place.

8 games back isn't good, but the season is almost half over. Good pitching and timely hitting over the next month could change things dramatically.

I'm just glad the Twins play in such a horrible division. I don't have any real hope for a pennant run, but 8 games isn't that big a deal. It's manageable. It's possible. And we're a lot closer to first than I thought we'd be at this point before the season started.
