R.A. Dickey

Did you know that the Mets are looking to trade their Cy Young award winner and that he could be had for about $10 million a year for 3 years?

Now I know the Twins at this point aren't making any noise about Dickey, but maybe they should.  Dickey is scheduled to make $5 million with the Mets THIS season and he is asking for a two-year $13 million a year extension. At 38, he is old. But 38 for a seasoned knuuckleballer usually means he's just hitting his prime. He has no history of injury and he's had great stats since the Twins released him 3 years ago.

He's got the "three C's" and that's as rare as anything in baseball.

He's Consistent, a CURRENT Cy Young award winner and CHEAP. Why would the Twins not arrange one of those "6 minor leaguers with potential" deals that everyone else gives US to get a pitcher who could help us win NOW and in the future?

He certainly could become our ace over night at a cost less than we paid Pavano the last three years.

Getting him would have made way more sense than the OTHER moves we've made the last week or so. I'm not sure why other teams aren't knocking down the door for this guy. Catching knucleballers isn't exactly EASY but surely there must be some catcher in baseball who could help us make this transition smoothly. Dickey had 20 wins last year for the lowly Mets who only had 74 wins TOTAL. Imagine if the Twins got anywhere near that number of wins from him THIS season.

He could be the missing link that we've been so desperately trading for.
