The Saints

The former NFL commissioner lifted all unserved  suspensions on Saints players yesterday. At this point, I really don't care. The Saints had an absolutely horrible season caused by all the drama that went with this discipline hunt. I figure even without all the players getting suspended the point was made effectively. Drew Brees looks like a shell of his former self and the head coach lost all of his mojo while watching the games from his couch this season. The TEAM got its punishment.

But the Vikings will never have justice for what the LEAGUE (refs and NFL officials like Goodell) did to them in that NFC Championship game just a few short years ago. It wasn't just the late hits on Favre (bounty or no bounty) it was the refs refusing to do anything about them.

We lost that game because of horrible full-time officials who did an absolutely awful job of officiating. They missed Farve getting massacred several times and then called US for a phantom holding call that gave the Saints the easy field goal for the overtime win. I've said this before, and I will say it again. IT IS THE LEAGUE THAT LET THIS TYPE OF THUGGERY SUCCEED. Goodell should have been punished instead of handing out the punishment. The league cultivated the environment that let the Saints do whatever they wanted. Plus, since New Orleans had just survived a devastating hurricane, they were willing to look the other way so that the league could have "a feel good story."

I'm glad the league has finally clamped down on late hits, especially late helmet to helmet hits. But they should have been doing their job long before the NFC Championship game which will live on forever in the crazed minds of unforgiving Vikings fans.

We were robbed. There is no justice for that.

  1. We will never forget...

Now if the Saints had been found taking PEDs, the hammer would have fallen.
